History
Malters is first mentioned in second half of the 9th Century as in Maltrensi marcha. In 1238 it was mentioned as villa Malters.
Geography
Malters has an area of 28.6 km2 (11.0 sq mi). Of this area, 64.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 24.5% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 9.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (1.2%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).
