Rossinière

Rossinière (French pronunciation: [ʁɔsinjɛʁ]) is a municipality in the Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut District of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland .

History

Rossinière is first mentioned in 1155 as La Ransonery.

Geography

Rossinière has an area, as of 2009, of 23.4 square kilometers (9.0 sq mi). Of this area, 8.92 km2 (3.44 sq mi) or 38.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 11.59 km2 (4.47 sq mi) or 49.6% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.63 km2 (0.24 sq mi) or 2.7% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.39 km2 (0.15 sq mi) or 1.7% is either rivers or lakes and 1.83 km2 (0.71 sq mi) or 7.8% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 0.8% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.7%.
