MIOS (Microinvasive Ocular Surgery) / Helvetia Retina Associates (HRA)

MIOS - HRA is a medical office offering high level ophthalmic services in both comprehensive ophthalmology and specialized care in retinal diseases (medical and surgical) and all aspects of ocular inflammation. Its director, professor Marc de Smet obtained his medical degree in Canada. He is board certified in Canada, the United States, and Europe. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, Royal College of Ophthalmologists of the UK, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He has an international reputation in the medical and surgical treatments of retinal diseases and uveitis. He has received several international awards for his contributions and innovations and was elected to the Retinal Hall of Fame in 2022. Ongoing collaborations maintain close ties with many world renowned centers.

The team includes board certified optometrists, ophthalmologists which allows us to cover also general ophthalmology, optometric exams, refractions and glasses prescription, contact lenses and night lenses, myopia management of children and adolescents). Minor procedures including injections are performed in the office, more involved surgery in one of several local clinics chosen according to the operation and need of the patient.
