SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern is a practice-oriented training institution for hospitality management that has opened doors for young, success-oriented students in the national and international hotel and catering industry since 1909.

The training at SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern is based on a career-accompanying training concept, which leads the students through several stages into management positions in the hotel, gastronomy and various service industries. All students must prove themselves in a management position before graduation and hence attain the optimal prerequisite to start in a leading management position immediately after recieving the diploma.

The SHL is an innovative training institution which offers a wide range of further education concepts, training opportunities and consulting services for an extensive variety of companies, in addition to the classic course Dipl. Hoteliere-Gastronomin HF / Dipl. Hotelier-Gastronom HF and the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management.

Furthermore, SHL is internationally engaged in development projects by establishing and developing various sector-specific vocational initiatives.

With reasonable effort, the SHL diploma can be supplemented with the «Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Major in Hospitality Management at the Lucerne School of Business. This combination and interlocking of hospitality management and business administration is a future-oriented, tailor-made and complementary training model.

Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management

The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management programme is a full-time, four-year degree programme, which includes two paid internships and provides students with transferable skills in hospitality leadership, management, strategy and operations. It is one of the only two Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management degrees in Switzerland accredited by the Swiss federal government and in compliance with the Bologna Declaration. Through a curriculum that integrates the Swiss traditional dual hospitality expertise with the most recent developments in world-wide management practices, SHL prepares students for a global industry. During their studies students focus on the highest standards of excellence, along with modern management practices, and work on both applied business projects, as well as academic research projects. As the only hotel management school offering a degree programme in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Lucerne (HSLU), SHL students are guaranteed educational excellence as well as ensured degree recognition throughout the world.
