«Roofman» è basato sulla storia vera di Jeffrey Manchester. Dopo oltre 60 rapine in fast food, è stato condannato a 45 anni di reclusione, è evaso e si è nascosto per mesi in un negozio Toys ‘R’ Us nella Carolina del Nord. Lì si è nutrito di alimenti per neonati, si è allenato su una bicicletta per bambini e alla fine è stato catturato dopo aver lasciato le impronte digitali su un DVD.
