Description

Schadau Castle was built between 1846 and 1854 for the Neuchâtel banker Denis Alfred de Rougemont. The location of the castle, on the southern banks of Lake Thun where the River Aare flows out of the lake, and with its views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, is almost as attractive as the architecture itself.
The building, built in place of an old manor house in the 19th century, features romantic and neo-Gothic style elements and is surrounded by an extensive English park landscape in which the panorama of Thun and Scherzligen Church are integrated. Schadau Castle has over nine spectacular hotel rooms and suites. In the restaurant, guests are treated to delicious dishes from the castle kitchen. Whether it’s a decadent brunch, afternoon tea or fine dining in the evening – Schadau Castle has something for every palate. The boutique hotel is particularly popular for romantic weddings, but the stylish premises are just as suitable for seminars or banquets.
