This nature trail invites visitors to discover the natural treasures of Bellelay from a new perspective and learn more about dragonflies.
Switzerland’s only nature trail dedicated to the fascinating world of dragonflies covers a distance of 4.8km alongside ponds, rivers and peatlands – the ideal habitat for the insects. The trail includes 12 information stations, each with interesting snippets about dragonflies – such as their large appetite, their extraordinary vision and the fact that their flying technique was used as a blueprint for helicopters! Nearly every station along the trail encourages young nature detectives to do some scientific detective work of their own by completing an activity or solving a puzzle.
Visitors can buy a trail booklet with helpful hints on answering the questions as well as additional information at the Maison de la Tête de Moine (the start and end point of the nature trail). Each budding nature detective will receive a gift at the end of the trail.
