Flims

Flims has everything you could possibly need for a perfect mountain holiday: a varied landscape for hiking and biking and one of the best winter sports areas in all of Switzerland. In addition, there are natural wonders such as the Rhine Gorge, the Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona, Lake Cauma and Lake Cresta.

This is Flims

Flims is located in the south-east of Switzerland in the Canton of Graubünden. The Rhine Gorge and the lakes make the place a popular destination. Together with Laax and Falera, Flims is one of the most popular winter sports areas in Switzerland.

Discover Flims

As soon as you arrive in Flims, you will be amazed by the wild beauty of the Rhine Gorge. A long walk takes you from the centre with the iconic Yellow House, the shops and restaurants to the quieter surroundings of Flims-Waldhaus. From the idyllic village of Fidaz, a hiking trail leads to the high valley of Bargis, where you can sample Graubünden specialities like Capuns, Maluns or Pizokel in a mountain restaurant. Alternative excursion: Take the cable car towards the Segneshütte mountain retreat and learn more about one of the wonders of the natural world in the UNESCO pavilion dedicated to the “Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona”.

Rivers and lakes around Flims

The landscape around Flims is dotted with rivers and lakes. Follow the “Wasserweg” hiking trail to learn why underground springs feed the Flims lakes. The Rhine Gorge is a genuine highlight: Passing through the Flims Forest with the turquoise blue Caumasee, you will come to the Il Spir viewing platform. From here you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Rhine Gorge, also known as the “Grand Canyon of Switzerland”.

Flims Laax Falera winter sports area

Weisse Arena is one of the top winter sports areas above Flims. It can be reached quickly from Zurich, for example, and has state-of-the-art infrastructure. Over 200 kilometres of slopes and four snow parks are open to you, as well as the Crap Sogn Gion, the world’s largest half pipe. The FlemXpress cable car will take you to your chosen upper station at the touch of a button – even in summer for hiking or biking.

In and around Flims

Visit the neighbouring villages of Falera and Laax with the church of St. Remigius, Lake Laax and the treetop walk. Discover the glacier mills on Alp Mora above Trin, where you can bathe in summer. Alternatively, explore Reichenau with its castle at the confluence of the Anterior and Posterior Rhine rivers. Another destination is the Safiental Valley with the Beverin Nature Park.
