Lake Zug

Lake Zug is idyllically situated between gently rolling hills and the snow-capped Alps. Whether you are strolling along the lake promenade, taking a leisurely boat ride or watching the legendary sunset, you will experience pure Switzerland here.

Explore the charming old town of Zug with its cobblestone alleys and the Zytturm tower. Stroll along the lakeside promenade or take a dip at one of the many natural beaches. A particularly relaxing way to experience the lake is on a boat cruise – perhaps with a fine meal on board?

Lake Zug is famous for its spectacular sunsets. The colors are reflected on the water, while the mountains in the background are bathed in warm light. The view is particularly beautiful from the Zug lake promenade or from Zugerberg.

Not far from Lake Zug, two of the region's most beautiful panoramic mountains rise up: the Rigi, known as the “Queen of the Mountains”, and the Wildspitz. Both offer breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and the Alpine foothills.

The lake is surrounded by idyllic hiking and biking trails that take you through protected zones and charming villages. Visit the Museum Burg Zug or explore the Höllgrotten caves in Baar, a fascinating system of caves with impressive dripstone formations.

The Zug Card is valid for all public transport in the canton of Zug. Many hiking trails, vantage points and bathing spots are accessible free of charge – and the sunset over the lake is priceless anyway.
