Mystical, almost magical, Chillon Castle stands on a rocky island around three kilometers from Montreux. This is one of Switzerland’s most popular destinations for excursions and full of history. You can explore the castle at your own pace or on a guided tour followed by a wine tasting, for example. Booking online in advance is recommended.

From Montreux, take the cogwheel railway up to the Rochers-de-Naye, where you can enjoy sensational views of the Swiss and French Alps. Or make the short trip to Vevey and experience the special flair of the “Swiss Riviera”, as this area is known.
